THE GLASTONBURY UKULELE CLUB

NEW! BEGINNING IN FEBRUARY, 2010, THERE WILL BE TWO MEETINGS OF THE CLUB EACH MONTH-THE "MID-MONTH MEETING" AND THE END OF THE MONTH "BIG SING."

MID-MONTH MEETING-HELD ON SATURDAY, TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE LAST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH, THIS WILL BE A CASUAL, FUN GET TOGETHER, AIMED AT IMPROVING ONE'S "UKING," WHILE HAVING FUN, STRUMMIN' AND SINGIN'. The list of songs we will work from is here. Please download the songs (from the main songlist) and bring them with you. We meet at Mountain Laurel, 1177 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Beginners 9:45-11am (this is now the only opportunity, besides my Adult Ed course, to learn from scratch-no more beginners' session the morning of the BIG SING). 11-1pm for the regular mid-month session.

Purpose: For ukulele enthusiasts of all ages and abilities to meet regularly to play songs, share techniques, and, hopefully, learn a thing or two.

Who: Anyone who plays the ukulele, or wants to learn to play. We invite frustrated or "lapsed" guitarists of any ability to see how easy it is to play your favorite songs on the ukulele. For those without instruments, ukuleles will be available for “testing the waters” at meetings.

When: Two meetings each month. The March meetings will be:

MID-MONTH MEETING-Saturday, March 13th. Beginners from 9:45am to 11:00am. Regular meeting from 11am to 1pm. Songlist here. Please download the songs (from the main songlist) and bring them with you.

BIG SING-Saturday, March 27th. 11-12 we practice the songs listed below. 12-1 we accompany the BIG SING, a monthly community-wide singalong

MID-MONTH-Mountain Laurel, 1177 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury

BIG SING-Riverfront Community Center, 300 Welles Street, Glastonbury, CT

Why: Because it’s fun, it’s free, and, simply put, “it can change your life.”

Download the following songs, practice them, and bring them to the March meeting. We will play them in the following order. Bring a music stand, because at the new location we will not have use of tables.
